Sweden's Next Top Model

''Sweden's Next Top Model'' or ''Top Model Sverige'' was a Swedish reality television show based on ''America's Next Top Model''. It was broadcast on TV3 in Sweden. In ''Top Model Sverige'', the 9 contestants are competing for a top 3 spots to compete in ''Scandinavia's Next Top Model''. These final 3 girls then join with Norway and Denmark's contestants. One winner came from Sweden over the 3 seasons of the show, Freja Kjellberg Borchies. For the first two cycles, ''Top Model Sverige'' was hosted by Mini Andén but she quit and Malin Persson replaced her. Persson left and was replaced by Norwigian model Vendela Kirsebom in Cycle 4 as a host when the show was aired for one Cycle on TV4 under the name ''Top Model Stockholm'' (appreviated as ''Sthlm''). After the first individual Cycle ended it took eight years until the show returned to TV3 in 2012 with Izabella Scorupco as host. However, she also lasted for one season only and was replaced by Caroline Winberg who hosted the show in 2013.
On 14 October 2014 Cycle 2 contestant Anna Maria Moström died after she crashed into a bus in New York while cycling.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Top Swedish model dies in New York )

In the first cycle the final 3 were Elina, Madalene and Maja. Kumba, who was denied for a spot in the top 9 originally made a surprising return in the first week, making it a top 10. Maria O. quit the show in the second episode because she did not want to fly to Paris. Cycle 3 saw a twist when Sabina Karlsson entered the competition as a joker and instead Sandra Nilsson was eliminated outside the judging panel and even before the first photoshoot. The same trick applied on Cycle 5 when Linnea Melander was eliminated outside of judging panel after the casting and Rebecka Skiöld-Nielsen filled in her place in the top 10 that moved into their modelling appartement. In difference to other countries Sweden never had a cast number higher than 12 which is relatively low for the show format.
During the 5th Cycle the show also saw a unique twist when the entire judging, held in Los Angeles, was done in English due to some members of the panel regulars were not able to speak Swedish.
Starting 24 February 2014, Cycle 7 will feature both female and male participants. This will also see the cast number rise to 14. In addition, this series will broadcast 40 episodes over 10 weeks.
